Online Training Programme
This e-learning programme targets employees, specifically Personnel Officers, as a refresher or orienting course for persons who are charged with the role. It was developed using the software video and presentation tool Camtasia Studio by Techsmith as well as MS Powerpoint application.
The programme holds a variety of features useful for creating interactive and engaging presentation and participation strategies as an independent learning unit. Learners view and easily interact with the programme interface to participate in quizzes which were strategically placed at the end of units to practice and self-test their knowledge as they progress through the programme. A tedious, and highly time-consuming design of infographics, screencasts, videos, and audio narration were included to give the presence of 'live' instructors/facilitators.
Learners are also able to regulate their own learning by creating their own learning schedule to suit their personal constraints and work obligations, to view and engage with the content. They may also pause, stop, or replay sections as they desire.

The use of technology offered a novelty, conventience and flexiblity for the learners and aided in my own development in using authoring and other presentation tools. Powerpoint slides were inserted into the Camtasia authoring tool to insert powerpoint slides, graphics and images, audio and recordings; edit timings; and use recording features of panning, zooming, blurring, and callouts.
The tool offered several other interactive features to make designs more interactive for self-directed learning but insufficient time and an extensive project did not permit the incorporation of all its features. Time and scope are major considerations in completing projects. During the design, in light of these factors, a decision was taken to complete the project in keeping with the time schedule and major requirements of the course design to achieve a project of reasonable quality and that was capable of achieving its performance and instructional goals.
